I just purchased a home built in 2006 and the front door opens directly into the dining room.

I want to keep my existing furniture and the large print but otherwise i m open to ideas. If the new pieces could work with my existing curtains rug and table runner that would be a plus but i d like to hear any thoughts. Turn your hall closet into an alcove i love this idea. How do you decorate your living room when your front door opens into it so it s guest ready and homey. There is a very small tile area for what could be a foyer maybe a 4x4 square and that is the only separation from the door to the dining room. I will probably do nothing until i give up the idea of turning the front porch into an entrance but a window partition could be a lovely solution. At the same time keeping a house in pristine guest condition 24 7 is unrealistic.
